We began the day with our first train ride through the Danish countryside. Traveling from Copenhagen, we disembarked the train at Roskilde, a town on the coast of the Roskilde Fjord. From the station, we walked to the water and explored the viking museum (and ate a great sandwich!). I was overall very mesmerized by the natural landscapes of this area. Because this town is much less urban than Copenhagen, I was able to see more of the flora and fauna of the area, and boy is it green!

Fun fact! Roskilde actually used to be the capital of Denmark (which was moved to Copenhagen in the 15th century). Because of this town's significance, the Roskilde Cathedral entombs centuries of the country's royalty and leaders. We got the opportunity to tour this cathedral and view the elaborate tombs, halls, crypts, sculpture, painting, and architecture (this cathedral actually reminded me of some of the churches I sang at in Ireland). My favorite tomb was that of Queen Margrethe (pictured below) who basically was a medieval feminist pioneer!

We ended the day with a (long) walk to the Ragnarock Pop & Rock Museum where we spend most of the time laying on a giant spinning record. Needless to say, my feet and I were very tired (17,086 steps in total) and needed that moment of chill. Now on my way to a foot massage and a good night's sleep before more exploring tomorrow!
Tak,
Beia
