Today we got the pleasure of working with world renowned artist, Thomas Dambo. Thomas is famous primarily for
his giant recycled wood troll sculptures that are scattered around the world. Getting to see his workspace that reflected his creative process was really unique and interesting (not to mention the workshop's cleanliness and organization!).
He didn't let us leave without some blood, sweat, and tears, though! We spent some of our visit out on his farmland helping construct a tiny, imperfectly perfect saloon. I surprisingly enjoyed getting my hands dirty and mindlessly, but purposefully, screwing wood into a crooked wall! When observing Thomas' work, one can easily see his creative genius. From his massive troll constructions to his strategic and metaphorical book, Thomas truly is inspiring. I also
liked his drive to always create something new. Even though he is famous for his trolls, he doesn't want to contain
his creativity to just that. As artists, it is so important to stick with your aesthetic and boundaries, yes, but also challenge yourself to expand your potential. I strive to honor my creativity in Thomas' fashion as I move further into this field. Looking forward to seeing the completed saloon!

Tak,
Beia
