When I tell you I have never been more drenched in my life (outside of the shower or a pool), I mean it. It seems that the running question throughout this trip has been whether or not it will rain on every given day. The weather forecast (and Travis) always predict sunny skies and warm temperatures, but as we have experienced, that is pretty much never the case. I am not complaining though! Contrary to popular opinion, I have enjoyed the rain. Being from New Mexico and Colorado, I have never experienced constant, extreme rain like this (and definitely not on a bike). The storm today truly made herself known with a downpour, lightning, and hail as we trekked across town on our dripping bicycles. While miserable in the moment, I surely will never forget this trip, water and all (good thing I bought that rain jacket!).

Side note: we visited the top of Copenhill (a giant trash incinerator turned artificial ski hill) after lunch today and the views left me without words. The picture above shows Copenhagen from 250 feet above ground.
Aside from the weather fiasco, I really enjoyed learning from Make Studios today. At Make, we delved deep into brand identity and the components that contribute to a successful, cohesive brand presence. During the presentation, I collected some quotes that I felt were inspiring and useful for my future aspirations as a designer:
Change starts when you choose to transform
Solutions (and designers) must be challenging but pragmatic, creative by systematic, analytical but realistic
What you stand for helps you stand out
If you want to move and grow, you have to move people to help you grow
Explore, define, shape, activate, enhance
Not only were these technical points helpful, but seeing the actual case studies for Make was eye opening as well. I have loved seeing how design can contribute to improving our world/society, and Make is no exception. Through their work in the healthcare, wind energy, and sustainable food fields, they truly have illustrated their clients' messages through impactful design; their solutions create platforms that universally communicate issues that need to be solved.
Speaking with Kigge at Ja Studio was inspiring in a different light. Hearing from someone who has worked in
the corporate design world as well as fine arts freelance provided a new perspective. The quote that most resonated
with me from Kigge was "you must know when to stop." As a creative perfectionist, that quote is seeming impossible, but vital nonetheless.
Tak,
Beia
