In choosing a creative field for my undergrad major, I have received a lot of backlash for pursuing a career that "doesn't benefit society." What people do not realize, though, is that design wields more power to change the world than people give it credit for. Hearing from Ditte with The Index Project and Sille with Behaviour Design Group today further emphasized that for me. The Index Project focuses on "promoting and mobilizing design to improve life" through their prestigious award. Getting to learn more about past and future Index projects that have changed the world for
the better helped me have hope for design's contribution to a healthier future. Similarly, Behaviour Design Group (previously Krukow) connects design with psychology to create more efficient systems within the community. While
these discussions provided rather brief explorations into design's potentials and societal impacts, I was fascinated nonetheless by all that imagination, creativity, and art can accomplish.

Contrasting to the design focused on the future,
the Glyptoteket's collection of ancient art was just
as interesting. I really enjoyed seeing these impressive pieces among the beautiful architecture of this building. From the mosaic floors, to the columns, to the glass ceiling, this gallery has beautifully maintained its history. This was also my first time seeing ancient Egyptian art (my lifelong obsession) in the flesh. Overall I am very empowered by my equivalent absorption of old and new art and how it has and can impact the future.
Tak,
Beia
