Day 03 — Empathic VR + Thank You Studios

Empathic Virtual Reality was never a concept I ever considered as a necessity for our society's future development and education. Experiencing the "On the Morning You Wake (To the End of the World)" VR was both enlightening and overwhelming as the simulation placed you directly in the center of the 2018 nuclear missile attack threat in Hawaii. Hearing from real survivors as well as seeing and feeling the panic of those 38 minutes really put the threat of nuclear war into context. While I would not consider this experience "fun," I feel much more aware and better understand the impact of empathic virtual reality.

During some of our lunch/free time today, I really enjoyed walking around the Dybbølsbro neighborhood in search of intriguing typography. I am so inspired by typographical solutions especially in different countries/languages and I intend to keep my eye out for letterforms throughout the city.

Thank You Studios and the Copenhagen Distillery was one of my favorite places we've visited so far. I loved the multi-purpose space they have created, combining a distillery, bar, event space, and design studio all under one roof. The design brief and case studies presented by Thank You were also very inspiring (not to mention their tasty cocktails. Witnessing successful creative minds like those at TY gives me hope and excitement for the future.
